Gani Adams, Yorubaland’s Aare Ona Kakanfo, warned on Sunday that terrorists were skulking in the forests of Osun and Ogun states in preparation for a terror attack on the region’s South West.
This occurred amid reports that masked gunmen were preparing an attack on Lagos State.
His Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi signed and released a statement by Adams stating that terrorists were located between Ile Ife and Abeokuta, as well as between the forests between the two cities.
Governors should convene a regional security meeting to avert the disaster, he recommended them.
He also urged the governors to hire at least 150 local security officers in each of their jurisdictions, saying he would be happy to assist them in their efforts.
According to him, “nothing other than the synergy and cooperation among all stakeholders” can ensure safety in any country or territory.
A string of significant security breaches in Nigeria over the past few months has led Adams to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the “drift into catastrophe.”
Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, has the authority to immediately establish state police with a mandate to flush out any terrorists stationed in crucial locations around the country.
There are around ten months left in the term of the current president. Now is the moment to put a positive spin on things. Without a high-level collaboration with these terrorists, the vicious maniacs will not have the guts and arrogant bravery to target innocent people across the country, as Nigerians rightfully believe.
