A leaked memo from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has indicated that two independent bandit groups are planning synchronised attacks on the North-West, North Central, and South West.
Nigeria’s National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a memo, dated July 25 and seen by our correspondent yesterday, which names Lagos as one of the six states targeted by terrorists and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as the other four.
Deputy Commandant General, Operations, D.D. Mungadi signed the document.
Because of this, the Commandant-General of the Armed Forces has ordered you to increase the number of troops in your various states in order to counteract any prospective threats from these criminal groups.” The memo stated, “Please treat it as urgent.”.
Boko Haram and ISIS for West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants, according to a memo from the NSCDC, had assembled their forces and deployed heavy weapons such anti-aircraft cannons and general-purpose machine guns to attack Katsina State.
Shola Odumosu, the NSCDC spokeswoman, told our correspondent that the report that had been leaked did not come from Corps.
This was not communicated to him, he said.
As a result, Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, requested people of Abuja to work with the Intelligence Bureau to strengthen the Federal Capital Territory’s defences against terrorists the day before.
He said the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) has been entrusted with the task of collaborating with Nigerians in order to thwart the adversaries threatening the country’s downfall.
While the Force Intelligence Bureau is responsible with rigorous intelligence collecting and information sharing amongst other agencies, the IGP has ordered enhanced deployment of assets to strategic areas of the FCT.”
