Passengers kidnapped on a Kaduna-bound train on March 28, 2022, have been released.
Prof. Mustapha Umar Imam, a physician at the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUS) in Sokoto, was one among the passengers who was liberated.
The fact that Imam was shot while in custody raises questions about his well-being.
In addition to Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Muktar Shuaibu, and Sidi Aminu Sharif, all of the other passengers were freed.
In an interview with Daily Trust on Tuesday, Kaduna-based Publisher Tukur Mamu, who had previously volunteered to help negotiate the release of the victims but has since withdrawn owing to threats to his life, revealed that they had been released.
More information will be provided at a later time…
