Terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train have released Sadik, the son of Professor Ango Abdullahi, an elder statesman and convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF).

According to The Nation, a family member of one of the abducted train passengers verified to the publication that Sadik Ango Abdullahi was freed on Friday, April 29, following long negotiations.

Sadik is the sole child of Prof Ango Abdullahi and the late Hajiya Jummai Alhassan, often known as Mama Taraba.

According to the magazine, a ransom was paid before to his release, albeit the exact sum could not be determined.

Sadik, according to the family source, was recognised by friends and relatives when terrorists posted images of the 62 abducted train passengers.

Additionally, it was learned that the terrorists were unaware that the abducted passengers included the son of a highly revered elder in the north.

“You see, that is why we are being really cautious today. Negotiations between the government and terrorists for our loved ones’ release have moved to an advanced level,” a family member stated.

“We do not wish to jeopardise the process at this point. We are certain that the terrorists discovered Sadik’s identity and afterwards chose to bargain for his release,” he continued.

Sadik has been reunited with his family and is presently at a private facility for psychological therapy.
