The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has denied detaining Eberechukwu, the wife of former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano.
According to a report that circulated on Thursday, the former Anambra First Lady is now in the custody of the commission in Abuja for suspected fraud.
However, EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren informed newsmen that the former Anambra First Lady was not in the agency’s custody.
Uwujaren did not offer any specifics in a short answer to our inquiry, but she did say the news of her arrest is ‘not accurate.’
Obiano’s wife made a sensation when she clashed with a former Nigerian ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu, during Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s swearing-in as Anambra State Governor on March 17.
She is running for Senate in Anambra North District on the All Progressives Grand Alliance platform in the 2023 elections.
