Tukur Buratai, Nigeria’s ambassador to the Benin Republic, met with Patrice Talon, the nation’s president.
Mr. Buratai presented his letter of credence to the President of Benin.
Buratai was appointed as Nigeria’s envoy to the Benin Republic by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Despite reports that Buratai met with the Beninese president to present his letter of credence, the meeting comes amid the arrest of self-styled Yoruba leader, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, in the neighboring country.
Igboho was imprisoned in Cotonou, capital of Benin Republic, while trying to flee to Germany after his residence was raided by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), who subsequently declared him wanted.
The Department of State Services (DSS) raided his residence and declared him wanted after he fled the country.
Igboho is being tried in a Francophone country.
