Three people, including a pregnant woman, have been killed in another highway accident along the Lagos-Ibadan route.
It was gathered that the accident which occurred around 4:30am at Danco – Ibafo expressway on Thursday, involved four vehicles – DAF Truck marked XY 895 GGE, Iveco Truck with registration number JBD 16 XY loaded with granite, Mazda bus marked LND 676 XX conveying tomatoes and another Mazda Bus with registration number BDG 755 YA loaded with garri.
Mazda bus driver carrying sacks of garri lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a truck from the rear, triggering multiple collisions with other cars. The Mazda bus had nine passengers, they said.
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, the driver of the Mazda bus lost control from speeding and rammed into a runaway truck, causing multiple collisions.
Among the three fatalities in the unfortunate accident, two males were aboard the Mazda bus carrying garri, while a pregnant woman was aboard the Mazda bus carrying tomatoes,” he said.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps evacuated the victims to an Idera private morgue in Sagamu, while the TRACE crew cleared the road to regulate traffic, according to Akinbiyi.
