The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has arrested two suspects in connection with an imported vehicle containing arm and ammunition.

At the Tin-Can Island port in Lagos during a routine inspection, NCS officials found a pistol and a loaded magazine inside the 2003 Toyota Camry at the Five Star Logistics terminal, according to the company.

According to a Tin Can Island Customs command spokesman on Sunday night, August 29, other government agencies have been invited to view the imported vehicle, like the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

At the Five Star Logistics terminal, on August 28, our operatives discovered a pistol and its magazine inside a Toyota Camry car at the exit. In line with our standard operating procedure (SOP), the DSS, police, and other security agencies were notified.” the spokesperson explained.

The exhibit was then taken to the Customs Enforcement Unit for safekeeping pending a formal report to Customs headquarters on Monday,”

“We would like to take this opportunity to advise importers and other agents to refrain from dealing with offensive imports, particularly items on the list of absolute prohibition.

Currently, the suspects, the driver, and the clearing agent are in the custody of the Tin Can Customs Command Enforcement Team.
