Ukraine can overcome Russia, says the US defence secretary

On Tuesday, US Military Secretary Lloyd Austin began defence talks with more than 40 countries by expressing confidence in Ukraine’s ability to triumph over Russia in the two-month-old conflict.

“Your fight has inspired the free world,” Austin added, describing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as “indefensible.”

“Clearly, Ukraine feels it can win, as does everyone else here.”
