In a speech to the Knesset via video connection, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Sunday that Israel will have to live with the decisions it takes on whether to assist Ukraine in defending itself against the Russian invasion.
Drawing parallels between the Russian onslaught and Nazi Germany’s “final solution” plot to eliminate Jews, Zelenskiy questioned Israel’s reluctance to sell the Iron Dome defence system to Ukraine.
“Everyone knows that your missile defence systems are the greatest… and that you can undoubtedly save our people, save the lives of Ukrainians, Ukrainian Jews,” he stated.
“We may question why we can’t get weapons from you, or why Israel hasn’t placed harsh sanctions on Russia or put pressure on Russian businesses. In any case, the decision is yours to make, brothers and sisters, and you must live with the consequences, the people of Israel.”
Russia denies targeting people in Ukraine in what it calls a “special military operation.”
