Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a popular nightclub owner in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
Madam Betinah Benson, 80, mother of the serving secretary for Bayelsa State government, Rt. Honourable. Konbowei Benson remains kidnapped and has yet to be freed.
At approximately 6 pm on Wednesday, Ajanami, an indigene of Ayamasa town in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the State, was abducted at his construction site along Otiotio Road in the state capital.
In the Baybridge area of the State capital, Ajanami owns the popular nightclub known as club 64.
He is also employed by the Wema Bank as a cash officer.
When the gunmen attacked, the victim was at his building site to pay workers.
Many eyewitnesses claimed the abduction may have been linked to the lavish manner in which he celebrated his birthday, while others suggested he was kidnapped for a ransom.
The police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident via a text message and said operatives of the command are on the trail of the abductors.
“On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at about 2100 hours, three armed men kidnapped one Oyintari Ajanani ‘m’ 43 years at Otiotio street in Yenagoa.”
