According to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, countries around the world are uniting over the need to take meaningful steps to reduce reliance on Russian energy, even if this is tough for some central European countries.

The United Kingdom had already stated that it will phase out Russian oil and oil product imports by the end of 2022, while the United States had announced a ban on such imports in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Even if it is extremely tough for some European countries, there was unanimity on the necessity to move beyond dependency on Russian oil and gas as we move forward… What we’re doing is taking the first step in the right direction “After meeting with leaders from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, Johnson remarked.

“This is a significant step forward for the globe… The world is growing increasingly disgusted and outraged at what is occurring in Ukraine, and the rope around the neck of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s administration is tightening.”
